MINOR LEAGUE: The home team is responsible for recording the official start time in the book as provided by the home plate umpire at the beginning of the game.
TRAINING LEAGUE: The home team is responsible for recording the official start time in the book as provided by the home plate umpire at the beginning of the game.
No new inning may be started after 1 hour and 45 minutes (Major/Minor) or 1 hour and 15 minutes for Training UNLESS the score is tied. Normal maximum time limit per game is 2 hours for Major/Minor and 1 hour 30 minutes for Training. SCYB has set time limits for all games in each league. In order to keep the games on time and to avoid having players out late at night, each game in each league will be allowed to continue past the established time limit (1 hour 45 minutes for minor/major and 1 hour 15 minutes for training) for NO MORE THAN 30 MINUTES only in the event of a tie (Major/Minor- 2 hour 15 minute maximum time limit, Training- 1 hour 45 minute maximum time limit). At the end of the additional 30 minute time limit, the game will be discontinued REGARDLESS if the game is tied or if the home team still needs to bat. At the end of the time limit, the score will revert back to what it was at the end of the last completed inning. If the game is still tied at that point, each team will be awarded a ½ game win & a ½ game loss in the standings. These games will not be resumed.
Rule 8.03 in the Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken Rule Book states that once a pitcher takes the mound between innings or when a pitcher relieves another pitcher during an inning, he/she is allowed to have 8 preparatory pitches that shall not consume more than one minute of time. Both teams are expected to be ready to begin play at the completion of the one minute period. Umpires will be enforcing this rule in order to keep games moving along and on time in order for both teams to play the maximum number of innings allowed.
IN THE TRAINING, MINOR & MAJOR LEAGUES, BOTH TEAMS WILL HAVE ONE MINUTE BETWEEN INNINGS TO BE READY TO PLAY!
IT WILL BE THE UMPIRES RESPONSIBILITY TO ENFORCE THE ONE MINUTE TIME LIMIT BETWEEN INNINGS AND TO MAKE SURE THAT NO GAME IS ENDED BEFORE THE MAXIMUM TIME LIMT EXPIRES.
THE KEY POINT HERE IS FOR COACHES TO TRAIN AND CONDITION THE PLAYERS TO BE READY TO HUSTLE ON AND OFF THE FIELD AND BE READY TO PLAY IN ORDER TO PLAY THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF INNINGS POSSIBLE.
Complete list of Training, Minor & Major leageu rules can be viewed in the available for download section of the SCYB website home page.
